Troubleshooting

I don't see any workouts

Check HealthKit Permissions:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone
  2. Go to Privacy & Security Health
  3. Select RouteDrop
  4. Make sure Workouts and Workout Routes are enabled
  5. Restart RouteDrop

Workout Requirements:

  • RouteDrop only shows outdoor workouts with GPS route data
  • Supported activities: Running, Walking, Cycling, Hiking
  • Indoor workouts (treadmill, indoor cycling) won't appear because they don't have GPS routes
  • Manually entered workouts typically don't include route data

"This workout doesn't have a route"

This message appears when a workout has no GPS data because:

  • Indoor Workout: Treadmill runs and indoor cycling don't track GPS location
  • GPS Disabled: Location services were turned off during the workout
  • Manual Entry: Workouts added manually to Apple Health don't include routes
  • Apple Watch Not Worn: If the workout was recorded without wearing your Apple Watch or iPhone

Solution: Only outdoor GPS-tracked workouts can be exported as GPX files. Ensure location services are enabled for the Workout app on your Apple Watch or iPhone.

Permissions were denied

If you previously denied HealthKit permissions, you can grant them:

  1. Go to SettingsPrivacy & Security Health
  2. Tap RouteDrop
  3. Enable Workouts and Workout Routes
  4. Return to RouteDrop and pull down to refresh

Export not working

If the GPX export fails or doesn't complete:

  • Make sure the workout has loaded its route data (check that the map is visible and shows a route point count)
  • Try restarting the app
  • Check available storage on your device
  • Ensure the workout has valid GPS coordinates (some workouts may have corrupt or incomplete location data)

After tapping Export GPX, the iOS share sheet should appear with options to save or share the file. If it doesn't appear, force quit and restart RouteDrop.

Map is blank or not loading

If the route map doesn't appear:

  • Maps can take a few seconds to load, especially for long routes with many GPS points
  • Check that the workout has route data (you should see "Route Points" count on the detail screen)
  • Ensure your device has an internet connection for map tiles
  • If the map remains blank, the workout may have invalid GPS coordinates

System Requirements

  • iPhone: Running iOS 17.0 or later
  • Apple Health: Must have workout data from Apple Watch or iPhone
  • Workouts: At least one outdoor workout with GPS route data (Run, Walk, Ride, or Hike)

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I export routes from other fitness apps?

No. RouteDrop only reads data from Apple Health. If your workouts are synced to Apple Health from other apps (like Strava), they may appear in RouteDrop if they include GPS route data.

Does RouteDrop upload my data anywhere?

No. RouteDrop does not upload any data to servers. All processing happens locally on your device. When you export a GPX file, you control where it goes via the iOS share sheet.

Can I edit routes before exporting?

No. RouteDrop exports routes exactly as they are recorded in Apple Health. It does not provide route editing capabilities.

Will RouteDrop work with future iOS versions?

We will update RouteDrop to maintain compatibility with new iOS versions. If you experience issues after an iOS update, please check for app updates in the App Store.

Is there a subscription or in-app purchases?

No. RouteDrop has no subscription fees, no in-app purchases, and no ads. All features are included.
